Bad Weather and Spending Too Much

It's been raining an awful lot at my place, which I know is nothing compared to the tornados that some of my blogging buddies have been suffering. But I have been feeling a bit housebound and the wet washing has been piling up!

I escaped the house to engage in a little "retail therapy" today. For me, shopping is only fun if I'm spending money. The more the better. Boy do I love spending money!

For a while now, Josh's bedroom has been a complete disaster area. Chris and I have decided to try to address it by getting him some new bedroom furniture.

This is the bedroom suite we have ordered for Josh, except we have chosen to get it in all white. We've also ordered a small wardrobe with some hanging space and shelves. We are getting it on an "interest free plan". I'm well aware that you must be very careful with these plans; you pay nothing up front and have small monthly repayments and it all feels so easy. But if you don't pay off more than the minimum monthly repayment you get into trouble when the interest free period ends and suddenly you're being charged a bajillion per cent on the balance owing. Lucky I'm so sensible and this will not happen to me :)

We're also going to repaint, so we've allowed Josh to look at some paint charts. He likes the look of a high voltage orange called "Energy". Believe me, this boy does not need anything that looks like Fanta in his bedroom! We already have trouble getting him to go to sleep before us at night. Seriously, Chris and I are having trouble finding "special mummy and daddy time" because I'm usually asleep before Josh is.

We're also letting Alana pick some colours to repaint her room, especially after she told us that she felt like "the less favoured child" when we were picking out Josh's furniture.

I love picking out colours, but Chris has long given up on the idea of me actually doing anything helpful like painting. But it's super fun to look through paint charts and I tend to get a bit over-excited and imagine buying all new bed linen and curtains and lamps and throw cushions and... you get the idea!

I may also have "accidently" bought myself a couple of books. And visited the library to borrow a few more. What can be better than curling up with a good book when it's cold and rainy outside?

I couldn't resist Charlaine Harris' latest Dead Reckoning today.

It's the latest in the Sookie Stackhouse series which has been re-imagined as the True Blood TV series. Speaking of which, I believe it's only 23 days until the new series starts! But who's counting...

So, how's the weather at your place?

Done any shopping lately?

As Friendster moves into history...

As friendster moves into history on 31st May 2011, I went to dig out my old photos and some testimonials. Some were funny, and many, were nostalgic.

The initial friendster logo...

The current one...

Started friendster since 2003, that was like 8 years ago... simple stuff like keeping in contacts, leaving each other testimonials, uploading pictures, until the next wave of social media, facebook came with online games and even polls.

Went to Vietnam to do some voluntary work...

The theme was vibrant in the house...

Friends from hall 14...

And was digging some testimonials from my friendster... back then, we really treated this testimonial seriously harh, like commenting on the person's character. Rather than facebook nowadays, where we just randomly ask someone out if he or she is free, or a random comment...lol.

First 2 testimonials from jc friends...

Primary school friend Junwen...

Melissa... haha.

Not forgetting Huimin ....

Junming's comment really stun me sia. He's a damn quiet guy whom you won't expect to write so much. LoL.

My BMT army friend...

And can't remember my dear left a comment in my friendster... lol.

From some of my uni friends...

Last but not least...from Sophia Sim. I seriously can't remember what video liao...haha.

That's about it... perhaps, it will take a while for facebook to phase out and another new wave of social media to begin. Remember, there's no dynasty which will last forever. =)

A new hang out place is in town! Playnation @ Scape

Was at Playnation @ Scape together with the Mech Engin kakis after our dim sum buffet..

Quoting from playnation website, "...more than 100 hand-picked console game titles for the Xbox360 and Nintendo Wii platform..."

Shiwei and Chengsiong here engrossed with "guitar hero" ....

And the rest of us were sweating out in the game Kinect, which most of us were involved in games like track, bowling, volleyball, soccer, boxing, etc. A good workout definitely, especially after the heavy dim sum buffet!

The interior deco here create a cozy feeling, and spacious enough to allow big movements and sensor detection for some of the games.

Alexis and Wei Ze involved in Kinect Boxing. Wei Ze seriously wanted to knock Alexis out in this game!

Check out our boxing video!

Other than console game packages, playnation also cater board games packages as well. You get to enjoy console game packages at the lowest price of $8.50 for 4 hours, with free flow of drinks. Definitely a good place to chill with your friends, maxing out quality time yet cost efficient at the same time!

Rocking the Vampire Uniform

I'm baa-ack!

Participating once again in the fabulous Brandy's Fat Ass Friday.

You should click on the button and visit Brandy as soon as you've finished reading this post ;)

Goal weight: 57 kg

Current weight: 66.9 kg

Counting down: 9.9 kg to go!

I've been starting to think about the clothes that I'm going to buy when I've reached my goal weight. I'm planning on maintaining and never gaining it back, so I want to buy stuff that I really love and that makes me feel great.

I know exactly the look that I'll be going for. This blog http://www.youknowyoulovefashion.com/ that I've just discovered calls it "the vampire uniform" of fitted jacket, understated tee and tight, dark pants. In other words, I'll be looking like a mixture of Caroline, Elena and Katherine from The Vampire Diaries.

Here's Caroline wearing "vampire at a picnic"! Love everything except the boots.

Elena wearing "doppleganger at the vampire sacrifice chic".

And Katherine looking "just plain sexy vampire".

And don't get me started on the dress that Elena wears to the funeral.

 I. Need. This. Dress.

So watch out world. Coming soon - Fiona rocks the vampire uniform!

Wan Hao Chinese Restaurant 万豪轩 Dim Sum Buffet @ Marriot Hotel

Was at Wan Hao Chinese Restaurant with some of the NTU Mech Engin guys to mark the end of our FYP...

320 Orchard Road, 3F Marriott Hotel, Singapore
Tel: +65 6831 4615

With OCBC cards, we got to enjoy the dim sum buffet at a cheaper price. Well, with the ambiance, food and service, it's definitely worth the price.

The dim sum and food generally was good... many variety to choose from, but there's no traditional dim sum favorites like egg tart and xiao long bao...

Busy eating, haha.

This custard bun was good. *Drools*

凤爪...

"Har Gao" was fresh too...

I think this was some fried beancurd skin with prawn fillings...

Not forgetting the traditional cha siew bao....

Duck wings and roast meat. I prefer the latter though. Skin was crispy...meat was not very fattening. But be sure the meat go with the chilli. Ups.

Spicy dumplings...

Carrot Cake....

Other than the traditional dim sums, there are other chinese dishes that you can order from the menu as well....

Coffee Ribs.. hmm, for me...this was so-so. If you are really full, you can actually give this a miss.

Jialiang, Cheng Siong, Shiwei...

Alexis, Junyue, Wei Ze...

Gerald, Ashly, Marcus, Shou Zhi and myself

Haha, and Ms Tan Yan Pei, if you are viewing my blog, the guys specially dedicate this picture to you...

All the best to your future endeavours guys!
