Spring Trends

Hi everyone! I am glad to announce another guest post by Blake.  :)

 Red Hair!!

The hippie girl that I am is very sad to see these two beauties discard their famous Ombre look for a new, slightly more exciting color. Blake Lively and Drew Barrymore are a couple of celebs that helped make the care free ‘California surfer girl’ hair so popular.  Though, I have to admit that both of these reds look fabulous (and I’m so glad they did their brows too!). Drew’s color is more of a red brown, complementing her gorgeous eyes and is keeping in the slightly undone look that looks so great on her. Blake’s coppery tone looks amazing with her bronzed skin and aqua dress.  And, of course, make sure you consult with a professional before you try this look, as reds can be very tricky, in many ways ;)

Floral Bags

Keeping with the idea of creating your own summer aura, carrying a floral print bag will enhance your glow and keep you smiling. These types of bags are particularly great because they have a summer quality about them, while remaining professional and cute. I absolutely adore the Marc by Marc Jacobs line, and the classiness of this bag, but there are so many styles, colors and looks to choose from. Not only are floral prints in, but bright yellows, blues and pinks, which I’m all for!

Chunky Heels

As I’m sure you’ve been seeing around town, chunky heels are back in! Though the stiletto is still a classic choice, wedges, clogs and sculpted heels are huge this spring. Many of them are being made with a multitude of colors and shapes to add some life to those little feet that have been hidden all winter. I absolutely adore these designs and only wish I had the courage (and balance) to wear six inch platform wedges.

Have a wonderful, hopefully sun filled weekend!

Ciao,
Blake

A New Goal!

Starting weight: 80.5 kg

Last week's weight: 71.1 kg

Current weight: 70.2 kg

Loss this week: 0.9 kg

Things are going well in the weight loss department. I seem to have conquered my need to constantly check my weight and I don't appear to have plateaued yet!

I have now reached an exciting stage in my Weight Watchers journey. Because I have lost 10% of my weight, I have been given the option to either move on the the maintenance plan or set a new goal weight.

I don't know how it works if you go to meetings, but I like this about the online plan. It means that WW acknowledges the fact that I've lost a significant amount of weight, am much healthier than I was before, and may want to just work on maintaining this loss. I think this would be a perfectly valid choice for lots of people, particularly if the 10% loss had put them within the healthy weight range for their height, or if the loss had taken a long time and they needed a break from losing for a while.

For me however, the healthy weight range is 50 - 62 kg, so I still have a way to go. And the loss hasn't taken very long, only 11 weeks, so I'm still feeling motivated and ready to keep going.

So I've set a new goal: 57 kg

I know it's pretty light (only about 125 pounds) but I'm short and I weighed in the 50-55 kg range when I was first married so I think it's probably do-able.

Onward and upward, or should that be downward?

Now I highly recommend that you click on the button at the top of this post and go visit Brandy at You Don't Know. She has a picture of her toxic toe blister that you just have to see! (She's a runner now.)

Thanks for stopping by!

Lash Dip

Ok, I'm so excited to tell you about a little beauty secret that I have come across that seems relatively new to the lash world called LASHDIP. I have personally not had this done but for those who already have amazing lashes and those who don't want to put on mascara everyday but like the look without the runny, smudgy, clumpy look; we may have found you the perfect beauty secret. Right now, because this is new to the beauty scene, it isn't available everywhere. In the state of Washington, I can only find 2 spas that carry it. On Lashdip's website it gives you a directory of who are educated and trained in your state to apply Lashdip.

The one thing that I absolutely love about this product is that it can be applied to the lower lashes as well. With traditional eye lash extensions that is not a common practice. I just spoke with my lash extension gal and she thinks it can be  a great pairing with lash extensions. It can help out the lower lashes better blend with the top extension lashes. I'm all for it!

You can find out all the info you will ever need to know at Lashdip's website here.

Have fun glamouring yourself up!

Jaclyn

Anzac Day

On April 25, 1915, Australian and New Zealand soldiers (Australian and New Zealand Army Corps - ANZACs) formed part of the allied expedition that set out to capture the Gallipoli peninsula in order to open the Dardanelles to the allied navies. The ultimate objective was to capture Constantinople (now Istanbul in Turkey), the capital of the Ottoman Empire, an ally of Germany. It was the first major military action fought by Australian and New Zealand forces during the First World War.

The Australian and New Zealand forces landed on Gallipoli on 25 April, meeting fierce resistance from the Ottoman Turkish defenders. What had been planned as a bold stroke to knock Turkey out of the war quickly became a stalemate, and the campaign dragged on for eight months. At the end of 1915 the allied forces were evacuated, after both sides had suffered heavy casualties and endured great hardships. Over 8,000 Australian soldiers had been killed. News of the landing on Gallipoli had made a profound impact on Australians at home, and 25 April soon became the day on which Australians remembered the sacrifice of those who had died in the war.

It is the day we remember all Australians who served and died in all wars, conflicts, and peacekeeping operations. The spirit of ANZAC, with its human qualities of courage, mateship, and sacrifice, continues to have meaning and relevance for our sense of national identity.

I believe that Anzac Day has become the most universally significant holiday for Australians because the focus is squarely on our servicemen and women and their courage and sacrifice. There is no glorification of war, nor is there political debate on Australia's part in current conflicts. We pause to reflect and remember.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old;

Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.

At the going down of the sun and in the morning

We will remember them.

Weekends.

Exams, gonna suck me dry.
But weekends, gonna keep me moisturize.

Tried a new drink, Green Tea Latte. Refreshing. Nice.

Ice Cream Wafer @ Ice Kimo. Can't remember when was the last Ice Cream Wafer I had. Suddenly misses NTU Hall 13 wafer ice cream, used to have it occasionally, perks me up during exam period.

Nothing much about this picture.
I just wanna show off my V-shape face.
Haha.

Take exams away.

Earth Day...I'm a little late :)

I am so excited for 3 reason's today...

1. Today was sunny and beautiful..It makes my heart smile :)
2. It's Earth Day...even if there is only  2 hours left.
3. I have enlisted a very special person to write today's post. She is near and dear to my heart and she is on her way to being an amazing stylist. So without further ado, I introduce to you, Blake.

Spring Trends (Part I)

Happy Earth Day, everyone!
First of all, I would like to mention that this is Jaclyn’s assistant from SEVEN, (though I’m sure she could use one for her everyday life, seeing as she’s constantly on the move) Blake. I would like to take this opportunity to express how amazing it’s been working with such an incredibly driven woman.  Her work ethic, and honest care for her clients and career constantly remind me of why I am in this business and remind me to push myself to a new level every day, as she does.  Since I’m sure this is embarrassing my humble mentor, I will move on to some fun spring trends that will brighten up our gray Seattle days.

BRIGHT NEON NAIL COLOR IS BACK!
Being able to wear a nail color that makes my pale, vitamin D deprived skin look like its glowing makes me feel incredible. It also brightens up a colorless outfit just as well as any accessory & is a constant, colorful reminder that summer is just around the corner. Of course there are other options than Dior’s electric tropics collection, but these are one of my favorites (due to their names reminding me of being under a palm tree somewhere.)

FLORAL FRAGRANCES

Anything with lily, jasmine, rose, violet, honeysuckle or gardenia. These beautiful scents will add life to any drab day. Marc Jacobs’ new fragrance contains, not only some of these floral scents, but adds some grapefruit and raspberry, for a little crisp edge. And really, anything in such a cute bottle is bound to add a spring to your step ;)

And last for today,
THE LOW BUN

Last year, everyone was wearing a high, ballerina-esque bun, but this spring it’s more of a loose, flowing style. Center parts, slightly undone pieces in the front, and lots of twists and turns in the back. And of course, backcombing will add a little bit of drama, and a ‘night’ feel to this cute trend. (Backcombing ‘HOW TO’, soon to come!)

I hope these tips inspire you to go out feeling beautiful and refreshed, glowing and letting off your own sunshine.
Ciao,
Blake

Thank you Blake for a lovely post!
I hope everyone has a wonderful day!
Xoxo,
Jaclyn
